What does it mean to emulate everyday experiences in a virtual world, like dressing as a certain gender, interacting with the tactile material of cloth, or the experience of an avatar looking in a mirror?

Concept:

boo box investigates the way we perform gender in virtual spaces, by allowing users to explore real-time clothing simulations which emulate playful gender constructs. Conceptually speaking, an avatar, like a piece of clothing, traces a role in the world for the ghost in the machine. This work considers how gendered clothing functions in the digital void of virtual worlds, inviting viewers to dress the ghost of their avatar, viewing themselves as gendered apparitions, a digitally embodied form of the other.
